Re: Update Controlled Prescription Tasking
Items in This Release
- Updated Controlled Prescription Tasking
WRS Health now supports controlled substance routing by mid-level healthcare providers (HCP-Billing roles) such as PAs and NPs. This enhancement enables compliant and efficient routing of Schedule II controlled substance prescriptions to supervising physicians for electronic prescribing (EPCS), while maintaining a full audit trail and enforcing correct permission handling.
Key Highlights
Supervisor Routing Functionality
- New Supervisor Dropdown appears when a mid-level provider creates a Schedule II prescription in the classic Medications page.
- Automatically pre-selects a designated supervisor (if set in Administration > EMR Setup > Supervising Provider).
- Defaults to “None” if no designated supervisor is assigned.
Send to Task Queue Option
- After selecting a supervisor and entering prescription details, a new “Send to Task Queue” button is available in the Prescription Details pop-up.
- The button only appears if a supervisor is selected.
- Clicking this routes the prescription to the supervising provider’s Task Queue for review and signature.
Supervisor Action
- Supervising providers can open the routed prescription from their Task Queue.
- Once reviewed, they may finalize and EPCS-send directly from the queue.
- Triggers standard EPCS flow with digital signature and audit logging.
Clinical Logs
- All tasking actions are logged in Clinical Logs with user and timestamp information.
Additional Notes
Available only in the Medications page; Medications 2.0 does not currently support this flow.
