Event Management

Planning, coordinating, and managing events e.g. inauguration of plants/projects, product launches, trade fairs and exhibitions, family/community fun days, conferences/workshops, social responsibility initiatives, etc, to achieve specific business objectives.
Level 1 Introductory: Demonstrates introductory understanding and ability and, with guidance, applies the competency in a few, simple situations. Can direct people to the appropriate source for further information.

BEHAVIORS

  • Plans, coordinates and manages a small event (e.g. farewell) or a component of a larger event (e.g. conferences, the inauguration of plants/projects, family/community fun days).
  • Monitors event activities to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and laws, the satisfaction of participants, and resolution of any problems that arise.
  • Arranges the availability of audio-visual equipment, transportation, displays, and other event needs.

  • Plans, coordinates and manages very complex event management issues (e.g. large national/international conferences).
  • Explains event logistics and organizations in detail.
  • Coordinates services for events, such as accommodation and transportation for participants, facilities, catering, signage, displays, special needs requirements, printing and event security.
  • Reviews event bills for accuracy, and approves payment.
  • Plans and develops programs, agendas, budgets, and services according to customer requirements.

  • Ensures branding consistency and brand awareness during any event or conference/forum.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of event strategy against overall marketing, sales and organization objectives.

BEHAVIORS

  • Consults with customers to determine objectives and requirements for events such as meetings, conferences, and conventions.
  • Meets with sponsors and organizing committees to plan scope and format of events, to establish and monitor budgets, or to review administrative procedures and event progress.
  • Develops strategies, sets budgets and allocates resources to facilitate the annual events calendar.
