Adding a Pharmacy
To add a pharmacy to a patient
1. Go to Patient Management > Pharmacies > Select Pharmacy Type: Retail or Mail Order
For Retail Pharmacies, search by zip code.
For Mail Orders, search by the mail order name
2. Click SEARCH PHARMACIES. Pharmacies registered with Surescripts will populate (If no pharmacy populates see Adding a non-Surescripts Pharmacy to manually add pharmacy).
3. Click SELECT for the correct Pharmacy.
Note- If there are multiple pharmacies on the account, you might want to select the patient's primary pharmacy by using the Primary radio buttons.
Other ways to add a pharmacy:
From Insurance:
Go to Patient Management > Insurance > Pharmacy Coverage > Tick the Default checkbox.
Adding a non-Surescripts Pharmacy:
If the pharmacy does not populate, use the workflow below to add it manually.
1. Click ADD NEW PHARMACY
2. Fill the necessary pharmacy info e.g. Pharmacy Name, phone and fax number
3. Click ADD PHARMACY. This pharmacy will now be available as an option in the PHARMACY dropdown.
IMPORTANT NOTE- If the pharmacy is added manually, the prescription CANNOT be sent electronically and will default to FAX. Please check your state's laws on requirements for sending prescriptions electronically.
If this is a frequent pharmacy for your practice, ask the pharmacy to reach out for contracting purposes with SureScripts.
TO ADD A RETAIL PHARMACY
a. Go to Patient Management > Pharmacies
b. Select Pharmacy Type: Retail
c. Enter the zipcode d. Click SEARCH PHARMACIES. Pharmacies registered with Surescripts will populate.
4. Click SELECT for the correct retail Pharmacy. Kindly ensure that the pharmacy is selected from the database and not manually entered. It is advised to use the zip code filter then click SEARCH PHARMACIES button. Also, only pharmacies registered with Surescripts will populate in the database.
TO SELECT A SURESCRIPTS MAIL ORDER PHARMACY
a. Go to Patient Management > Insurance > Pharmacy Coverage > Tick the Default checkbox (if applicable).
b. Go to Patient Management > Pharmacies > Select Pharmacy Type: Mail Order > Type in the keyword e.g. "Walgreens" or "Prime" under PHARMACY NAME
c. Click SEARCH PHARMACIES. Pharmacies registered with Surescripts will populate (proceed to step E if no pharmacy populates to manually add pharmacy).
d. Click SELECT for the correct mail order Pharmacy. If the pharmacy does not populate, use the workflow below to add it manually (see the video attached).
Click ADD NEW PHARMACY
Fill the necessary pharmacy info e.g. Pharmacy Name, phone and fax number
Click ADD PHARMACY. This pharmacy will now be available as an option in the PHARMACY dropdown.
